Many offices were not equipped to see patients safely at the onset of the COVID 19 virus pandemic. Fortunately, our office was not one of them! In fact, our office has been a provider of PPE to other offices in the state and worldwide.
32 years ago, Dr. Olim designed and patented a face shield which has been in use at our office ever since. So, we were well ahead of the curve way back then and now the rest of the world is catching up.
I remember prior to 1988 before using my face shield, I would frequently catch colds. I remember one patient remarking to me "Are you sick again?", "Every time I come in your sick!". Well, after I began using my face shield, I didn't get sick for years and the very few times I did it appeared to have come from my wife or kids.
So as a patient you may be thinking "Ok, that's good for you but what about me?" Well, as you may know, a face shield is a barrier. It prevents things like bacteria, viruses, and particles coming out of the patient's mouth from hitting us in the face, but it is an equal protector. It also prevents transmission of potentially infectious organisms coming from our staff from infecting you. This is only one part of what we do to keep everyone protected.
